Learn About UMBC
Throughout the day of the tournament, several different opportunities for students, parents and coaches will be available from campus tours to workshops on applying to UMBC and scholarship opportunities as well as undergraduate homeroom concierges for you to ask UMBC STEM students about UMBC and learn more about Maryland’s newest R1 research university. We encourage you (parents and students alike) to sign up for campus tours and information sessions on the day of the tournament, as well as just explore the campus.
Information Session
Meet with a UMBC staff member from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation outside of your homeroom throughout the day to learn more about UMBC traditions and values, application requirements, and opportunities for funding your education. Open to students and family members or other guests.
Campus Tours
Small-group tours (~20 people/tour) will be offered on a first-come first-serve basis throughout the day on tournament day.
There will be three different student-led campus guided tours offered on Saturday the 18th. Tours will be offered at:
10:00 am – 10:45 am
11:15 am – 12:00 pm
and
12:30 pm – 1:15 pm.
Please meet at the information kiosk outside of the Math/Psychology Building entrance approximately 5 minutes before the tours begin.
Food
During the day, several different on-campus food options will be available for all to purchasing breakfast and lunch. A list of the various options and their hours of operation are listed below:
Starbucks: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm (located University Center Bldg; 1st floor)
The Commons Market: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm (located Commons Bldg; 1st floor; drinks, baked goods, etc. )
Chick-Fil-A: 10:30 am – 4:00 pm (located University Center Bldg; 1st floor; serving lunch)
Copperhead Jacks: 11:00 am – 2:00 pm (located Commons Bldg; 1st floor; serving lunch – Tex-Mex)
UMBC Shopping
The campus bookstore (located next to the Electric Vehicle Event) will be open on tournament day for all of your UMBC swag needs from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.
